Christina Aguilera has promised her upcoming sixth album will be "honest and raw", as she gears up a musical comeback.
The star's previous album Bionic was the lowest-selling No. 1 album in UK chart history in 2010, and sold significantly fewer copies than its predecessors around the world.
She has maintained a high media profile through a judging role on US series The Voice, which returns for its second season next month.
Speaking to NBC, she teased: "I'm recording my new album right now and I'm really excited because I've found myself in a very introspective stage in my life.
"I've learned and have experienced so much in leaps and bounds and it's really a journey of growth for me continuously throughout my career."
She added: "I'm excited to put it all down on paper through my lyrics and my voice as it comes from a very truthful, honest and raw place."
Christina's collaboration with Maroon 5, 'Moves Like Jagger', was the second biggest-seller of 2011 in the UK.
It's been reported that she is working with Pink and Britney Spears' producer Max Martin on new tracks.
Christina... you forgot your trousers!
