Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding is reportedly writing solo material based on her recent personal demons.

The troubled singer entered rehab last year following her split from DJ Tom Crane, struggling with depression and addictions to alcohol and prescription drugs.

She fell in love with businessman Theo de Vries during her treatment, but the relationship ended violently when they had a violent bust-up on New Year's Eve.

"Sarah's been jotting down lyrics and writing songs for the past few months," a source told The Mirror. "After the year from hell in 2011, she is now desperate just to get back to her first love - music."

It's rumoured that the 30-year-old, who is set to become the fourth member of the girlband to release a solo album, has generated interest from three record labels.

"She's had a few meetings and is getting a lot of interest from labels but hasn't decided which one to go with yet," the insider continued. "There is some very raw, heartfelt stuff – not the kind of thing people will be expecting. Sarah's had some pretty wild experiences and wants the album to reflect this."

Lily Allen recently joked about Harding's New Year fight with de Vries, saying "Wow 40% of Girls Aloud will have been charged with assault (sic)"
