It was the film that made him a global heartthrob but even Hollywood stars get insecure about their looks as Leonardo DiCaprio did when he recently saw the 3D version of 'Titanic'.
Producers travelled to Sydney where the 37-year-old star was filming to screen the updated version and with 15 years since he first played ‘Jack’ the actor admitted that he hardly recognised his 23-year-old self.
Speaking at a screening for ‘Titanic’ 3D producer Jon Landeau told Entertainmentwise: “I mean you heard him audibly say, ‘I don’t look like that anymore.’”
'Titanic' became a global phenomenom when it was released in 1997 with Dicaprio the most desired man on the planet. Girls swooned over the actor and filled the cinemas to watch his ill-fated romance with Kate Winslet - the scene standing on the front of the ship has become one of cinema’s most iconic moments.
Leo’s co-star Kate has yet to see it but the actor is said to have enjoyed his walk down memory lane, after his initial shock. Landeau said: “Once he got over the shock of how young he looked, he just got wrapped up and it was as if he was seeing the film for the first time.”
‘Titanic’ 3D is set for worldwide release in April to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the disaster. The movie was a global smash when it was first released in 1997 and producers attribute its enduring popularity to the tragic love story between Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio.
Jon Landea said: “I think we are all looking for true love, we want to find that in our lives.”
Despite looking a little older Leo still gets the pick of the ladies and after dating Blake Lively last year it seems he has moved on with supermodel Erin Heatherton and has even introduced her to his mum.
