The Duchess of Cambridge maybe turning 30 next week but she has reportedly decided not to celebrate with a lavish party to mark the milestone and instead has opted for a low-key family affair.

Despite rumours that hard partying royal Prince Harry and Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton had joined forces to throw a spectacular 80s themed bash the no-frills royal will be spending the day with close friends and family.

It has been a busy 12 months for the Duchess and she wants to use her birthday as a chance to reflect on all that has happened over the last year.

According to The Daily Mail a St James’ Palace spokesman said: "Whatever is planned will be low-key and private."

The Duchess will make an appearance on the eve of her birthday at the UK premiere of 'War Horse' in Leicester Square which she will attend on Sunday night with Prince William.

It will not be a late one though, as William is due in work next week at RAF Valley in Anglesey.

The Duchess has already recieved one gift from Kim Kardashian who unveiled a shoe named after her favourite royal.
