Director David Fincher famously turned down Scarlett Johansson for 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' because she was too sexy, but the director insists that he thinks that Rooney Mara is as beautiful as Audrey Hepburn.
The director explained that Mara, who plays Lisbeth Salander in the movie alongside Daniel Craig, can transform from a boyish look to an icon because of her beauty.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Fincher said: "Rooney's a beautiful girl. She can look like Audrey Hepburn, but she can also look like a boy."
Discussing how Rooney even got parts of her body pierced so that the role was more authentic, Fincher revealed that every bit of the actress's costume and make-up was meticulously planned. "
So we'd decide where we wanted to put the stud through her eyebrow by asking, 'where is it going to be most in the way? Where is the most distracting place?'," he explained. "We had to be really sure that the nipple piercing was in the place where it was going to catch the light."
In an interview with Vogue magazine, Fincher had said: "The thing with Scarlett is, you can't wait for her to take her clothes off."
Do you think Rooney Mara was a good choice for Lisbeth?
