Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson has revealed why she turned down the title role in 'Precious'.
The 30-year-old whose incredible weight loss this year has stunned the world has written about her decision to turn down the role that led to an Oscar nomination for Gabourey Sidibe.
In her new book I Got This: How I Changed My Ways And Lost What Weighed Me Down, Hudson writes about her decision not to audition or the role.
Uptown Magazine published an excerpt from her new book, where Hudson said: "I had [gained weight] with Effie [in Dreamgirls]' and as much as I was moved by this film, I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight."
After deciding not to read for the role, director Lee Daniels picked Gabourey to play the part of Precious, the overweight and abused teen.
'Precious' went on to gain several awards and nominations that included six Oscar nominations including 'Best Actress' for Gabourey.
Earlier this year, Hudson was named as the new face of Weight Watchers after having lost an incredible 80lbs.
