Hugh Hefner has previously revealed that Lindsay Lohan's Playboy spread was breaking sales records and now the magazine mogul has insisted that it will be the "turnaround" point in her troubled career.
The 85-year-old also revealed that he fought for Lindsay to be nude in the shoot after admitting the 'Mean Girls' star's people weren't keen on her being naked for the cover.
In the January/February issue of the Marilyn Monroe-themed shoot, LiLo can be seen frolicking around in the buff on red velvet.
Hugh reckons that this shoot is the beginning of good things for Lindsay.
"Historically, Playboy pictorials are connected to celebrities at various times in their career," he told People magazine. "Sometimes it's the beginning of their career and sometimes it comes at a particular moment - as with Lindsay - that is intended as a turnaround."
While he conceded that the 25-year-old was "carrying around some serious luggage", he also added that he wanted it to be "a born-again beginning for Lindsay. I think there's a rooting interest for her."
Hef also revealed the inner workings of Lindsay's entourage, as he discussed the decisions on whether the actress should be nude for the cover.
"Some of the people around her said, 'No, no, no, I don't want her nude'. And I said, 'No, this is how it's going to be. This is how it is'."
The Playboy boss admitted that he did have concerns about working with Lindsay for the cover shoot.
"The concept came from my editors," he explained. "I had mixed emotions to begin with. I could not have anticipated, quite frankly, that it would turn out to be such a sensational newsworthy event, or that the pictorial would turn out so well."
