Reese Witherspoon has agreed to star in 'Devil's Knot', a controversial movie about the 'West Memphis Three', who were convicted of killing three boys in 1993.
The boys were killed in Arkansas and during the high-profile trial, the prosecution had suggested that the boys had been murdered as part of a satantic ritual, reports Deadline.com.
Reese will be playing the role of Pam Hobbs, one of the mothers of the victims, who initially accused the men of killing her son before she was persuaded that they are innocent and had been wrongly accused.
The script for the movie is based on investigative reporter Mara Leveritt's 2003 book, Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three and is based on the true events.
According to reports, there isn't a rights deal in place with Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin or Jessie Misskelly Jr because two of the men at the time the movie was sanctioned were serving life sentences while another was on death row.
