Hey may play Batman, but not even Christian Bale could get past the Chinese Guards who stopped him visiting a human right activist in China.
The Welsh actor was forced to flee the scene after his attempt to enter the activist's house turned violent.
Known for his fiery temper, it was not 'The Dark Knight Rises' star that started the violence this time, with the guards pushing Bale as he questioned why they were stopping him visiting blind activist Chen Guancheng who is under house arrest.
The exchange was caught on camera by the CNN crew that accompanied him on the eight hour journey to meet the activitst.
According to Metro the Oscar winning actor asked the guards: "'Why can I not visit this free man", before a full-scale fight broke-out.
Bale and the CNN crew left quickly after and were chased away by the henchmen.
As Bale escaped he explained on camera why he had tried to visit the activist, saying: "I'm not brave doing this. The local people who are standing up to the authorities, who are visiting Chen and his family and getting beaten or detained, I want to support them."
The British-born actor was in China for the premiere of 'The Flowers of War', and took the oppourtunity to visit Mr Chen who has been under house arrest for 15 months after his release from prison.
The activist had served a four-year sentence for exposing forced abortions and sterilisation in the country.
It is not only activists that are getting support from the Batman' star, with Bale recently revealing that his latest role had made him feel sorry for prostitutes.
