Daniel Craig has claimed that his co-star Rooney Mara "really suffered" on the set of their highly-anticipated movie 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' because she was so tiny.
The actress plays troubled computer hacker Lisbeth Salander in the movie and Craig estimates her weight to have been below 100lbs just like the character in the book.
Craig, who plays journalist Mikael Blomkvist, said that he felt sorry for the actress when they were shooting scenes in Sweden because of the cold.
In an interview with Shortlist magazine, the actor said: "[The weather] was OK, though it must have been tough on Rooney. The poor girl was probably 91lbs. when she was doing this movie because she was working out every day and dieting."
He also added: "She was waif-like because her character is that way, so she wasn't carrying an awful lot of fat to keep her warm. Her jeans had lots of rips in them and her costume was pretty thin. She really suffered."
Rooney, 26, had to undergo a dramatic transformation with the role that included losing weight and getting her nipple pierced but she believe this helped her perform.
"I was very happy to cut my hair off. It made it easier to get into the character. I was happy to get rid of it. Really I was," she said.
