X Factor USA's Melanie Amaro has revealed she broke-down in tears when her idol Mariah Carey tweeted her words of support following her performance this week.
The 19 year-old, sang the Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston classic 'When You Believe' on last week's show and later tweeted the singer to thank her for being an inspiration.
According to Digital Spy, Mariah responded to Melanie's tweets with a message of support: "Dear Melanie, you should be very proud of yourself and the beautiful gift you've been given. Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and humbling words. Never give up, never let go, no whatter what. xo, MC."
Melanie immediately replied to her idol and wrote: "Omg God is good!!! Mariah Carey just tweeted me. I'm literally crying, she is my role model and one of the people who inspires me to sing :-)."
Her performance was praised by the judges with Nicole Scherzinger telling the singer that it was a special performance.
According to Digital Spy, the Pussycat Doll said: "You gave me goosebumps all over and what was so special about that performance is you didn't just sing the song, I felt like you were speaking the song to each and every one of us and believed every single word you were saying."
Melanie will compete with Josh Krajcik, Marcus Canty and Chris Rene to be crowned the first ever X Factor USA winner. There was mayhem after last week's elimination after fan favourite Rachel Crow was sent home. Some have even called for judge Nicole Scherzinger to be axed.
