The house where Michael Jackson died has been open to members of the public.

The Bel Air mansion, which was rented by the late singer for $100,000-a-month while he rehearsed ahead of his comeback tour, was for the upcoming auction which is set to take place this week.

Jackson died in the home where hundreds of paintings, items of furniture as well as ornaments will be sold including the queen size bed where his body was found after the lethal propofol overdose.

The headboard from Michael's deathbed has been removed from the sale, at the request of the late singer's family.

A mirror is also included in the auction, it has a message written that reads: “Train, perfection March April Full out May". The mirror is likely to be sold between $6,000- $8,000 as part of an armoire.

At the home fans left tributes to the Thriller singer's children, reports The Telegraph.

Only a few of the items that are being sold belonged to the singer, or was related to the singer, but the auctioneers are hopeful for an impressive turnout on Saturday (December 17).

"Even though these weren't items that belonged to him, they were items that surrounded him in the final months of his life. Anything associated with Michael Jackson is highly collectible," said auctioneer Darren Julien.

Michael Jackson...

Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 29, 1958. He was the seventh child of nine children to Joseph and Katherine Jackson and was born into a typical working class family. The city of Gary is 25 miles from downtown Chicago and is famous for its massive steel industry. It took its name from the chairman of U.S. Steel, Elbert H Gary, and is nicknamed 'City of Century' – we're hoping for ironic reasons. (Image: WENN.com)
