Hundreds of fans who turned out to welcome Tom Cruise to Mumbai were paid Bollywood extras, it has been reported.
Cruise was in India to promote 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol', where he received a rapturous welcome from over 200 people.
First Post reports one extra as saying: "I don't know who he is or what he does. We were told to come here by 1pm today and wait for a foreign VIP to come out of the airport gate and scream and shout when he came."
Another added: "None of us know who Tom is. There was a buffet lunch also for us and we were paid Rs 150 (£1.87) for this job today. We do this for television shows and other such events where crowds are required."
Tom's co-star Jeremy Renner recently described him as being like "a rollercoaster."
'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' opens on December 26.
