Mitch Winehouse has discussed Lioness: Hidden Treasures, the posthumous album from daughter Amy, which is released today.
Speaking to Daybreak, he explained that listening to it was "very difficult", but he was "more than pleasantly surprised" by its quality.
He said: "When we went to listen to the album it was a very difficult time for us, it was very emotional. But we had to sit through it and after the first couple of songs we sort of calmed down a little bit.
"We all had to be in agreement that the album was of the same quality or better, in fact, than Frank and Back To Black, and we were more than pleasantly surprised. We were astonished at how beautiful the album is, and some of the songs are just superb."
Speaking of the legendary singer's passing earlier this year, he admitted: "We have good days and we have bad days. Christmas is going to be particularly hard because we always got together at Christmas.
"You either wallow in your grief or you roll your sleeves up and you crack on, and that's what we as a family have decided to do."
Lioness: Hidden Treasures is out now.
