David Bowie has denied allowing his back catalogue to be used in a stage musical about his life.
It was reported over the weekend that the singer had granted permission for his hits to be used in a "futuristic" biopic entitled Heroes: The Musical, due to open at the IndigO2 in March 2012.
But shooting down the reports, a statement from his official spokesman reads: "Neither the David Bowie Organisation, nor its co-publishers EMI Music and Chrysalis, has issued a license for this performance at the O2.
"There are no negotiations pending for a long running musical featuring the music of Mr. Bowie."
Writer Deep Singh had told the Guardian over the weekend: "We could not really believe it when he gave his permission.
"His people had warned us that it was very unlikely that he would be interested and that he had been asked many times before."
Bowie released his last album in 2003, and is thought to have since thrown in the towel on his recording career.
Boy George recently claimed that if he auditioned for X Factor he would not get through the first round.
