Ricky Gervais has offered to replace Eddie Murphy as the host of next year's Oscars.
Following Gervais's controversial hosting of this year's Golden Globes, in which he managed to offend hald the star-studded audience, it is unlikley that new producer Brian Grazer will be calling up the comic any time soon.
Gervais is so keen, that he's willing to take less money, telling the Hollywood Reporter: "A two for one offer. I can knock off 20 percent. Two for one deal. I’ll just stay up there."
Gervais had held a meeting with bosses Douglas Vaughn and Aida Takla-O'Reilly to discuss a potential deal, although an official offer has yet to be made.
He added: "They haven’t asked me officially yet, and I don’t know whether I’d say yes. It’s very tempting. It’s tempting [because] for three hours, I’m the most feared man in LA, so that’s nice."
Eddie Murphy stepped aside after original producer Brett Ratner was forced to resign following homophobic remarks made during a fan event for upcoming comedy 'Tower Heist'.
The Oscars takes place in Los Angeles on February 26, 2012.
