The title of the latest James Bond film will be announced at a London press conference later today (Nov 3).

Daniel Craig will play the secret agent for a third time, with Sam Mendes directing the film, which is widely expected to be titled 'Skyfall'.

It is also thought that the official cast line up will also be revealed, with Javier Bardem previously stating that he will be playing the villain.

It has been reported that Mendes plans to tone down the action in an effort to win an Oscar for the franchise, but one Bond expert thinks that is highly unlikely.

Professor James Chapman, Director of Film Studies at the University of Leicester, told the BBC: "They are not going to turn Bond into George Smiley. Bond films are genre movies, and with genre movies you can't afford to disappoint the expectations of your audience.

"'Tinker Tailor Solder Spy' was so successful, precisely because it wasn't Bond. You wouldn't go to watch a John le Carre adaptation expecting lots of car chases."

Shooting is expected to start before the end of the year, with a release date pencilled in for October 26, 2012.
