Jessica Simpson's fashion line may rake in over a billion dollars and now we know why, because the pregnant star says weight gain is good for business.
The mum-to-be has claimed that she would never starve herself to be super-skinny because then her fans won't be able to "relate" to her and that ability is "great for branding".
In an interview with Lucky magazine, Simpson said: “Everybody fluctuates, but I’m open about my weight and I’m still confident. I didn’t cry about it too much.”
The singer is often dogged in the media for having put on weight as it is a stark contrast to her Daisy Duke days when she starred in those teeny hotpants for The Dukes of Hazzard.
Simpson has claimed that she stayed true to herself instead of worrying over her figure.
“I got so much scrutiny for putting on extra pounds, but I think that the decision not to make myself anorexic was actually great for branding,” she explained. "Because when you’re really, really skinny, not everybody can relate to you. "
Talking about her plans for her wedding to former NFL player Eric Johnson, she said that there aren't any, despite reports that the couple were scheduled to get hitched later this month.
"I haven't started shopping for our wedding yet," Jessica admitted. "When I got engaged, everyone thought I would get married immediately, but I have not put a single dress on, and by the time this comes out I will not be married! We're just enjoying being engaged right now, and that's honest."
