Robert De Niro has been added to cast for upcoming action movie 'Killing Season'.
The legendary actor has taken on the lead role, replacing Nicolas Cage, opposite John Travolta, Deadline reports.
The 'Limitless' star will play a US war veteran who retreats to a cabin in the woods and strikes up a friendship with a European tourist, who turns out to be a Serbian soldier bent on revenge.
Producer Avi Lerner said in a statement: "We're excited to be co-financing and co-producing this film with Corsan, and to be working again with Robert De Niro and John Travolta. We've never seen these two great actors on screen together before, and we're excited to see what comes of the combination."
Corsan Pictures CEO Paul Breuls added: "I've loved this project from the moment I read Evan Daughterty's remarkable script. It's thrilling, imaginative, unexpected and dominated by two extraordinary characters on a collision course."
Production is expected to start in January 2012.
