Johnny Depp forced a smile at the Golden Globes earlier this year when host Ricky Gervais mocked his film The Tourist... but he has finally taken his revenge.

But don't panic - it's all in the name of fun, as part of a sketch in Gervais' new comedy show Life's Too Short.

The scene shows Depp being introduced to Ricky and Stephen Merchent by Warwick Davies, who plays the head of a talent agency.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star puts out his cigarette in Gervais' glass of water, saying "Just doing another film that's going to make loads of money, probably a lot more money than any film you've ever made."

When the former Office star says "I'm sorry, have I done something to offend you?", Depp shoots back "What do you mean? Like trashing me in front of 200 million people at the Golden Globes?"

He also draws reference to jokes made about Tim Allen, saying: "I want you to know this and I want you to carry this with you for the rest of your days: No one makes fun of Tim Allen on my watch."

At the Golden Globes earlier this year, Gervais' controversial presenting gig involved him saying: "It was a big year for 3D movies. Toy Story, Despicable Me, Tron.

"It seems like everything this year was three-dimensional, except the characters in The Tourist."

He quickly added: "I already feel bad about that joke. I'm jumping on the bandwagon, because I haven't seen The Tourist. Who has?!"

The scene airs on November 10 on BBC2, but through the magic of the internet you can watch it now below:
