It has been revealed that scenes from Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble film The Avengers have been shot using a phone.
Seamus McGarvey, the director of photography for the film, admitted he shot scenes using his smartphone and that some appeared in the trailer.
During an interview with The Irish Film & Television Network, McGarvey said: "The beauty of photography or cinema is that you make every choice based on the content at hand."
Talking about his mobile phone-filmed scenes he said: "In fact, they are in the trailer! I understand that sometimes there is no choice and you have to go for the cheapest option, but if you are limited for choice, you can still make poignant decisions that will affect the look of the film."
The Avengers will be a cross over of several Marvel superhero films including Iron Man 1&2, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and Thor.
The Avengers will be released April 27, 2012.
