Writers behind the first instalment of Captain America: The First Avenger have revealed the sequel to the superhero film will be set in the present day.
According to Marvel Studios, the film will see Chris Evans reprise his role as Captain America and his struggle to adjust to modern times.
Stephen McFeely told The HD Room: "I think it's safe for us to say that it's primarily set in the modern day. That seems to have been the biggest question people have been wondering about regarding the sequel."
He added: "We've been left with room to explore Cap entering the modern day wondering, 'What is all this? What's happened to the world' and so on."
Chris Evans will next be seen on screen in The Avengers, where he will be reprising his role as Captain America alongside Robert Downey Jr. Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo.
The Avengers will be released April 27, 2012.
