Ian 'H' Watkins has revealed that Robbie Williams encouraged him to quit Steps.
The singer, along with bandmate Claire Richards, walked out on the group in 2001 and formed a short-lived duo.
In tonight's concluding episode of Steps Reunion on Sky Living, viewers will see H admitting that Robbie, who himself left Take That several years before, spoke to him about walking out.
H says: "We were at Top Of The Pops and I was sat on my own in a corridor. I remember Robbie came over to me, and he put his arm around me and said, 'It's time to leave', and I went, 'Yeah'."
He added: "I don't want to feel like that again. I want this group to be a part of my life and enhance it, not damage it."
Steps have recently been forced to extend their comeback arena tour after the initial batch of tickets failed to meet the overwhelming demand.
They are also currently Number One on the UK album chart; the only mixed-gender act in history to top the list in three separate decades.
