Anne Hathaway Joins Hugh Jackman In Les Miserables

It has been confirmed Dark Knight Rises star Anne Hathaway will be joining Hugh Jackman in the upcoming musical film Les Miserable.

The actress, who has been linked to the project for some time, has been confirmed for Tom Hooper's adaptation of the 1862 french novel and will be playing the role of prostitute Fantine.

Starring Hugh Jackman as ex-con Jean Valjean, Les Miserables will tell the story of a fugitive who becomes dedicated to helping others.

Other stars have also been attached to the project including Russell Crowe, who will taking on the role of Inspector Javert, as well as Geoffrey Rush and Helena Boham Carter who are set to star as Monsieur and Madame Thenardier, the abusive foster parents of Fantine's young daughter.

Hathaway has already had experience with musicals, after she sang a parody version of the song On My Own to Hugh jackman when co-hosting the Academy Awards last February. The Oscar-nominated actress had also joined Jackman for a previous duet in 2009 when he was hosting the Oscars ceremony.

Anne Hathaway is currently filming The Dark Knight Rises alongside Christian Bale and Tom Hardy, in which she will be portraying the role of Selina Kyle, Catwoman.

Les Miserables is set to be released in 2013.
