It always going to be a brave move for label bosses to release Matt Cardle's debut album on the same day as Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
And it seems the former Oasis rocker is winning the chart battle hands-down, with sales figures representing a 2:1 lead over the X Factor champ.
Matt's Letters album includes his single 'Run For Your Life', which lost its midweek Top 5 placement to settle for No.6 at the weekend.
The X Factor effect has better luck elsewhere however, with special guests The Wanted and Katy Perry each expected to cash in on their performances on Sunday's episode.
The Wanted are narrowly ahead of Rihanna on the singles chart with 'Lightning', while Katy Perry's 'The One That Got Away' makes its entrance at No.16 without any promotion beside the stripped-down XF performance.
