Marvel producer Kevin Feige has hinted that the upcoming superhero epic The Avengers will be getting a sequel.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Feige confirmed Marvel's plans for a second instalment at the New York Comic-Con this weekend.
"Iron Man 3 will be the first of what we sort of refer to as phase two of this saga that will culminate, God willing, in The Avengers 2," Feige explained.
The producer also confirmed that the ensemble film will be ending with a scene hinting towards the storyline for the next Marvel movie, something which has become a bit of a tradition for Marvel projects.
He added: "It's a nice tradition, and I like traditions, so I think we'll keep that up."
Directed by Joss Whedon, The Avengers will be a cross over of several Marvel films including Iron Man 1&2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger.
The Avengers will be released May 4, 2012.
