Elizabeth Hurley and former cricketer Shane Warne may have only announced their engagement this weekend but it didn't take long for the actress's friends to dish their opinions on her hasty decision.
While at St Andrews for the weekend, the ex-Australian cricketer proposed to Hurley after a 10-month romance with a sapphire and diamond engagement ring which is rumoured to have cost £50,000.
A friend of the Gossip Girl star told the MailOnline: "A lot of us are very surprised – and a bit concerned for Liz. What started out as a fling has become something far more. They seem to have got caught up in the moment."
They also added: "However much chemistry there is between Shane and Liz, they are from very different worlds. She is very much part of upper-crust society, and he is a Jack-the-lad Aussie."
Bookmakers are also doubting the marriage, as William Hill has given odds of 3-1 that the couple won't ever go through with it.
Meanwhile Warne has revealed that he proposed to Hurley in private, as he tweeted last night: "I didn't propose in front of 200 people at dinner It was done privately and was very romantic - if I say so myself Ps left knee is sore !!!"
