Hugh Jackman admitted he was grateful for his career because he struggled when he first started acting.
The actor, who attended the London Premiere of his latest film Real Steel yesterday, revealed he still is surprised when getting roles in movies because he struggled so much at the start of his career.
"When I started acting I wasn't very good so I'm constantly just thrilled I'm not being kicked out," he told BANG Showbiz.
The actor also explained he loved portraying 'hard' men in films because he is so different to them in real life. After playing Wolverine in X-Men, Jackman is seen portraying an ex-boxer whose life revolves around fighting robots in Real Steel.
"I love playing flawed characters because I think drama films are about conflict," he added.
"I enjoy playing tough guys in movies because I'm really pretty boring in real life. I just get to be much more interesting on screen."
Directed by Shawn Levy, Real Steel is set in 2020 and looks into a world where robots have replaced humans in boxing. The actor went on to admitting he preferred stage acting to films but that Real Steel was one of his favourite movies.
"This movie has one of my favourites to do but ultimately I prefer the stage," he said. "I can't wait to go back to Broadway again later this year."
Real Steel will be released October 14.
