Katy Perry's outspoken husband Russell Brand is in trouble again after joking that Paralympic athletes have "novelty value".
The comedian made the jibe whilst slamming the London 2012 Games at a gig in Islington.
"I don't give a f**k about the Olympics," The People reports him saying. "It's boring Blue Peter sport and a waste of taxpayers' money. At least the Paralympics have some kind of novelty value or something."
Natasha Baker, 21, who will represent Britain in the equestrian sport of dressage, told the paper "We've suffered life-threatening illnesses. It's both patronising and upsetting for Russell Brand to describe us as a novelty."
Neil Coyle from the Disability Alliance added: "It's a shame a comedian of his stature should lower himself to have a pop at Paralympians. It's almost like Russell Brand has gone back to the eighties when that kind of humour was acceptable. It is really scraping the bottom of the barrel."
Brand is no stranger to controversy, having been dismissed from MTV for dressing up as Osama bin Laden and resigning from the BBC after making lewd prank calls to Andrew Sachs with Jonathan Ross.
We're wondering if his wife Katy found his new material funny?
