Marc Anthony has said that his decision to split with wife Jennifer Lopez after seven years of marriage "wasn't shocking".
The couple recently announced their separation and it has since been reported that they had been living apart for months while Lopez was relaunching her music career and starring as a judge on 'American Idol'.
Anthony, who recently collaborated with Pitbull on 'Rain Over Me', said that they both decided to split but people shouldn't mourn like it's "a funeral".
In frank interview on Nightline, Anthony says: "I'll tell you that it wasn't something sensationalistic happening. It was a realization on both our parts. So, you know, it wasn't shocking. These things happen. It was a decision that we made jointly."
Anthony, who has twins Max and Emme with Lopez also added: "This is not a funeral. This is not a burial. This is just two people who came together and just realised... I'm saying that it wasn't sustainable the way it was, and that's that."
