Ten years after the first film was released, it has been announced that our favourite unlucky in love character Bridget Jones will be returning to our big screens. Yipee!
The geniuses behind the first two films, Working Title Films, have confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the third installment has been greenlit (meaning it’s ready for take-off!).
Renee Zellweger is keen to play Bridget once again, although she has only agreed to go back to the role if she doesn’t have to put on weight. We can imagine that putting on two stone each film and then having to shift it afterwards can be a struggle...
The only main actor that hasn’t decided whether he wants to rejoin the team again is Hugh Grant, who plays Daniel Cleaver. A source from Working Title Films told the Sunday Mirror: “Everyone is keeping everything crossed that he does. Cleaver is his role and it wouldn’t be good if he wasn’t in the film.”
So, what will happen in the new plot? Any ideas? Colin Firth, who plays heartthrob Mark Darcy, has sneakily told Access Hollywood: "I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can't have children, I think that's the way it goes on. So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she's left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?" We’re not sure if he's pulling their leg or not, but either way… it sounds great!
