Pete Doherty has been sentenced to six months behind bars after he pleaded guilty to possessing drugs.
The sentencing took place yesterday at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London following an inquiry into the death of Robyn Whitehead, who had been filming a documentary about Pete.
Pete was arrested in March 2010 on suspicion of supplying Robyn with the drugs that led to her death in January. It was later found she died of heroin poisoning.
Judge David Radford said that Pete, who has appeared in court on 13 occasions, had an "appalling record", the BBC reports.
The Guardian reports Pete’s lawyer as saying: "Any claim that this defendant somehow glamorises drug use is misguided. He takes no pleasure in his addiction. It's one thing he's said publicly, he would not wish upon his worst enemy. He is acutely aware of the agonising nature of addiction."
Pete had performed a gig in Leeds the evening before his sentencing, and was due to play in Glasgow last night.
