American Idol's Jennifer Lopez is normally so calm and collected, but it was a different story last night when the judge was left in a blubbering teary mess.
The star, who's first series as judge is coming to an end, broke down in tears when the public decided to send home hopeful James Durbin on last night's results show.
Having been tipped to go the whole hog and win the show, the 22-year-old star who, despite getting universal praise from the judges, got the lowest number of public votes.
Speaking shortly after being told that his American Idol dream is over, the Daily Mail reports James saying with tears streaming down his face: "I worked so damn hard and I was hoping to get there.
"But I did so much stuff that's never been done on the show. I did what I came here to do, and that was to give metal a chance."
Unfortunately James didn't make it to the final three, so Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart will compete to be named American Idol winner 2011.
