Cher Lloyd’s tearful performance of Shakespeare’s Sister’s Stay won the biggest praise of the night on The X Factor on Saturday.
All four judges gushed over the 17-year-old, who had promised to deliver a “massive shock” that would show she is more than “a bad girl rapper”.
Here’s what they had to say:
Louis: “Cher I don’t know why you’re crying, this was an absolutely incredible performance and tonight you proved that you really can sing, you’re not just a one trick pony rapper. That was probably the best performance of the night.”
Dannii: “...a beautiful performance.”
Simon: “That wasn't just performance of the night, it was the performance of the entire season. I think you are special, you proved a point this week. You're only 17 years old and that performance, by any standard, was absolutely incredible.”
Cheryl: “Cher it was epic, it was so beautiful, I'm so proud of you tonight.”
We were glad to see Cher do something other than rap over a mash-up while dressed as a scarier version of Lady Sovereign, but “performance of the entire season”? We reckon Rebecca, Mary, Paije easily out-classed Cher last night.
