Cher Lloyd’s dad has defended his daughter over claims she isn’t up to competing in the X Factor live finals.
The frail-looking 17-year-old has been dogged by reports that she isn’t physically or mentally strong enough to handle the pressure of the TV talent show ever since she wowed the judges with her first audition.
Fears for her wellbeing were renewed when she burst into tears while performing in front of Cheryl Cole for a place in the judge’s final three.
Photographs of her freaking out when faced with the paparazzi has only fuelled the speculation about her fragile state.
However, Cher’s dad, Darren, insists his daughter is “fine...focused and excited.”
He said: “People have said she cracked under the pressure with her audition on Saturday night but that was rubbish.
“She had tonsillitis and found it very difficult to sing. We are totally behind her and support her. She deserves to be in the live finals.
“Cher is absolutely delighted and excited to be in the live finals. Her mental state is fine, she’s focused and excited.”
