According to reports Jennifer Lopez is close to signing a deal to appear as a judge on American Idol.

TMZ has claimed that the singer is in the final stages of negotiations and producers think she will reinvigorate the somewhat stale format.

A source told the site:  "It's been typical negotiating."

JLo could sign on the dotted line as early as next week and we're excited to see what she'll bring to the hit US show.
