Cheryl Cole is said to be devastated at the thought of leaving friend and rumoured beau, Derek Hough behind in Los Angeles as she heads back to the UK to return to work on The X Factor.

Derek and Cheryl have been almost inseparable since she split from husband Ashley Cole and even more so since Cheryl was diagnosed with malaria.

A friend of the 3 Words star told new! magazine: “Cheryl is devastated to be leaving Derek.

"She’s become so reliant on him over the past few weeks and has no choice but to come back home. She’s stressing out about having to spend time apart from him.”

Derek won't be at a loose end without the singer though as he is getting in shape ready for the start of the new season of Dancing With The Stars.

This year Derek has been partnered with Dirty Dancing star, Jennifer Grey who played Baby in the iconic film. Exciting!
