Supermodel Naomi Campbell has admitted to receiving a blood diamond from Liberian president, Charles Taylor in court today.

The admission comes as former Liberian president, Charles Taylor is on trial for war crimes, including trading in 'blood diamonds' to fund a horrible war in Sierra Leone.

According to the Mirror, Naomi told the court of how two men knocked on the door in the middle of the night, handed her a pouch containing the diamonds and said: “There's a gift for you.”

“They were very small, dirty looking stones.” Naomi told the court.

The model then said she “assumed” they were from Charles.

“I didn't know anything about Charles Taylor...I had never heard of him before, never heard of Liberia before, never heard of the term 'blood diamonds' before, so I just assumed it was.”

Despite having an inkling they were from the former Liberian president, Naomi told the court that she had no intention of thanking him for the gift.

“I had no way of contacting him and I had no intention of contacting him.”

The British model then went on to explain that she gave the diamonds to a colleague, wanting them to be donated to a charity, telling him to “do something good with them”, adding that because Charles still has them, "they didn't benefit.”

Naomi, who is no stranger to courtrooms had previously refused to appear in court to testify, calling it an “inconvenience” but had to attend when she was issued with a subpoena.
