Bringing the phenomenon that is American Idol to millions of viewers each week is an amazing achievement, and with the latest season ending today, we would have thought that creator and judge, Simon Cowell would be upset about leaving.
But no! Si, who took on the role of the 'nasty' judge, has appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show and revealed that he can’t wait to leave the show that has made the likes of Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson famous.
He said: “I am feeling a bit sad because we’re nearly there, but at the same time…do you remember, sort of, those last three weeks when you were leaving school and you kind of couldn’t wait to get out?
“It’s a little bit like that. It’s kind of exciting. I’m not being ungrateful…I am feeling a bit sad because I’ve had a fantastic time and the show changed my life but I just kind of knew it was time to do something different.”
But if you’re thinking Simon will disappear of the reality show radar, then you’re wrong because Si will be back in 2011 when he launches the American version of the X Factor, a show that is already a hit with the British audience.
