Selena Gomez Plays First UK Gig

And we were there...

Last night saw Disney star, Selena Gomez, take to the stage in the UK for the first time as a music artist. The actress come singer played her only UK gig to a sell out audience at London's Shepherds Bush Empire and we were lucky enough to be there!

Selena looked fabulous in a grey and silver sparkly mini dress and black boots and immediately had the audience in the palm of her hand. The crowd were screaming for the star and she began her set with Kiss And Tell, followed quickly by Wipe That Smile.

Selena told the screaming crowd that the gig was her first ever UK gig and said: “Thank you so much for being a part of that. It means the world to me.”

The next song was Crush and Selena danced along and had the crowd singing with her. She also had tips for the crowd, mainly amd eup of teenage girls, saying: “I changed myself for a boy and I'll never do it again. I hope you won't too” before launching into I Won't Apologise which had the crOwd waving their hands in the air.

Half way thorugh the set Selena went off stage whilst stools were put in place and her band – The Scene, were given acoustic instruments. “I'm going to slow it down for the next few songs if that's OK?” Of course it was!

Selena then sang The Way I Loved You followed by the Back Street Boys hit  I Want It That Way where she dueted with her drummer, Greg. Selena got a raptuous applause and said the gig would “Not be [her] last after this crowd.”

She then decided to treat us to a special version of Naturally, something she had '”never done in the States”. It was an acoustic version of the single she is releasing here in the UK and she sounded great!

It was then time to pick the pace back up with one of Selena's “definite favourites” I Don't Miss You At All. Selena asked the crowd if they'd ever been hurt by the same boy more than once? The singer admitted she had, and her “problem is it's the same person over and over again”. The crowd went mad. Was it a reference to a Jonas brother or perhaps Twilight's Taylor Lautner?

We weren't going to find out but Selena sand fantastically and then launched into a cover of Katy Perry's Hot N Cold which had everyone who wasn't already on their feet, up and dancing.

Selena then sang Tell Me Something About You, the first song she ever recorded, three years ago .“Thank you so much, You really are wonderful. Thank you” she gushed, before singing Naturally, her UK single at its usual, up beat pace. Selena was most comfortable singing this song and proved what a great pop tune it is. A sure fire hit we think!

Confetti burst from above the ccrowds head and everyone was singing along. The song ended and Selena Gomez and The Scene went off stage only to come back after calls for a encore, to finish with a cover of Magic.

We really enjoyed the gig and know that after a reception like that, Selena will definitely be back for more UK dates!
