When we heard that Russell Brand proposed to Katy Perry, we felt a rush of excitement about what the wedding would be like.

So a wedding in a church was the last thing we thought the loved up pair would have wanted, but we were wrong.

Although Russell wanted a rock 'n' roll wedding at the rock 'n' roll studios of the Sunset Marquis Hotel, Katy put a stop to his plans because of her parents beliefs.

A source told the Mirror: “Russell has been visiting the hotel for years and it is steeped in rock 'n' roll history. Its in the middle of West Hollywood, but it has beautiful gardens and you feel like you're in some kind of tranquil paradise.”

“Katy was keen, but when they suggested they could have their blessing in one of the recording studios, she put her foot down.”

The source added that Katy's “ultra-religious” parents would be “crushed” if they didn't see her walk down the aisle of a church.

But ever the romantic, Russell will let Katy have whatever she wants...with one exception...that his mum is there...awww!
