They may have ditched Jedward yesterday but Sony have nabbed themselves an artist guaranteed to sell a few more records than the Irish twins...
Music legend, Michael Jackson, passed away last year but that hasn't stopped him signing a new record deal with the label, worth £132m.
The deal is for another 10 albums and one of those is all brand new material, scheduled for release as early as November of this year.
The new deal will see Michael's estate net a minimum of £132m and a maximum of £165m over seven years. This will eventually see the King of Pop's debts cleared and any profits going to the singer's mother and three children.
As well as the new material there will also be remastered songs and re-releases of some of his greatest work.
Insiders told the Sun that Sony are planning to release a trio of MJ albums including Off The Wall, Bad and Thriller.
The chairman of Sony Music's Columbia Epic label Group, Rob Stringer, said: "We're dedicated to protecting this icon's legacy."
RIP Michael Jackson
Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 29, 1958. He was the seventh child of nine children to Joseph and Katherine Jackson and was born into a typical working class family. The city of Gary is 25 miles from downtown Chicago and is famous for its massive steel industry. It took its name from the chairman of U.S. Steel, Elbert H Gary, and is nicknamed 'City of Century' – we're hoping for ironic reasons. (Image: WENN.com)
