David Beckham's England dreams have been dashed after he tore his Achilles tendon playing for AC Milan at the weekend.

His wife Victoria flew to Finland to be at his side after he had surgery to repair the tendon. Hospital sourcves revealed to the Sun that the couple had a tearful reunion at David's bedside.

They said: "David's eyes lit up when Victoria arrived. It was a very emotional moment when they met. She gave him a massive hug and kiss.

"David is over the moon Victoria has dropped everything to get to him.

"It has made him realise what really matters in life, and though he wants to go back to football his family is most important for him. He would give up everything for his wife and kids."

Thankfully David feels that way, as his surgeon has told him that he will not only miss the World Cup but he may never play top class football again...

The footballer has been given a hardcore rehab programme to follow, in the hopes that his tendon will repair.

Lucky David to have such a devoted wife at his side during what must be a crushing blow for the footballer.
