Gorgeous Oscar winning actress, Kate Winslet, is set to divorce her second husband, film director, Sam Mendes.

The couple have been married for over six years and have announced their separation through their lawyers, which said: "Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year.

"The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.

"They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family."

Kate has recently been seen on the red carpet without her husband by her side and a family friend told the Sun that: "Sam and Kate had been arguing a lot after Revolutionary Road, their last movie together. They were spending a lot less time together.

"Their closest friends were aware that they had been on the rocks for over a year.

The source added: "They have been living separately for a while.”

Kate married Sam in 2003, two years after divorcing her first husband, film director Jim Threapleton.
