Rumours did the rounds that Katie and Alex's Las Vegas marriage was 'illegal' and that they are not actually officially husband and wife.

Their wedding was conducted by a minister at the Wynn casino who, according to reports, had no power to do so.

But the newlyweds are now insisting that their marriage was for real.

According to OK!, in a statement, the couple have said: "Following the revelations in the press over the past couple of days regarding the validity of Katie and Alex's wedding, we would like to state that the marriage is 100% legitimate and legal.

"The Wynn where they married, and the Office of the County Clerk Marriage Services Division, have both confirmed that Reverend Mose Henney, who conducted the wedding ceremony, is legally authorised to perform marriage ceremonies."

So that's that then. Sorry Alex, no get out clause for you there....
