That's it ladies, one of the richest men in Britain is off the market. After making his first public appearance with Mezhgan Hussainy at Elton John's post-Oscars party, Simon Cowell 'fessed up on Jay Leno, confirming the pair's engagement.

The music mogul took Mezhgan onto the Tonight Show and was quizzed by host jay Leno about the status of his relationship.

Jay asked Simon, “Are rumours you're engaged true?"

Simon paused before saying: "Are they true? Well, I do have somebody in my life now, Jay, yes. And I kinda made a decision this year to make somebody happy. It is called giving back."

Not quite the Tom Cruise/Sofa declaration we were hoping for but it's good enough for us.

And according to the Sun, Louis Walsh said: "They're a lovely couple - they look great together. Simon is the happiest I have ever seen him."
