Robert Pattinson = Edward Cullen. There is no doubt about it, the actor made that role his as soon as he appeared on screen.

So we were shocked to hear that the actor nearly turned down the role that has made him the hottest actor in Hollywood.

Rob told the Daily Mail that he didn't want to audition for the film as he was trying to avoid blockbuster movies, but gave in and auditioned in the end.

He said; “At first I didn't want to do a movie like Twilight, I specifically hadn't done anything that anyone would see since Harry Potter because I wanted to teach myself how to act. I didn't want to be an idiot.

“I was going to wait for another year to do two or three more little things and then do something bigger. Twilight came kind of randomly. It was a chance and as I didn't have a reputation at all there was nothing for me to lose.”

Phew! We're glad Rob decided to go for Twilight as we can't quite imagine anyone else playing Edward Cullen the way he does.
