The days of Betty Suarez's busy hair, eyebrows and metal braces are long gone as America Ferrera shoots the last scenes of the series Ugly Betty.

The show is coming to an end after four years and finally Betty is free of her trademark braces, embracing a sleeker, more polished look.

America was spotted shooting scenes in New York yesterday and there was a distinctly British theme to the scenes, with Union Jack flags, black cabs and red telephone boxes on set.

Will Betty be off to London to further her career?
America is finding the ending of the programme difficult and told Parade magazine: “I'm staying in denial for now - I'll deal with all those emotions in a little bit. I imagine that when we finally wrap it's not going to be a dry-eyed goodbye.

“I've lived with this character who I've loved from day one and I have only grown to feel more connected to her.”

She added, “Her entire journey was about a transformation, kind of coming into her womanhood and owning herself both physically and emotionally.”
