It is rumoured that Penelope has been in talks to star in the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
The 35-year-old is currently up for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in musical Nine. Rob Marshall, the director, is also set to direct the next Pirates film.
The box-office smash has lost out on a couple of its stars, as it's likely that neither Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have signed up to film again.
But, according to the BBC, the film could be saved from wreckage as Penelope will certainly boost the brand when filming starts later this year.
Johnny Depp, who plays swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow, is the only original cast member to remain in involved in the Disney-owned franchise.
