Michael Jackson's family are unhappy with Dr Conrad Murray only being charged with involuntary manslaughter.
The family believe the doctor deserves a harsher penalty for acting in a manner they believe was 'reckless'.
Joe Jackson's lawyer, Brian Oxman spoke to the Los Angeles Times after the hearing, which saw Dr Murray walk free after psoting £47,000 bail.
"There was danger to human life. I knew it; everyone else who knew about the prescription medication knew it. To say the perpetrator didn't know it I find to be unacceptable.
"They (family members) thought the charges should be more serious than involuntary manslaughter. There was disregard for the safety of human life.
"This charge is a slap on the wrist. There's great disappointment here. He should've been charged with a higher degree of responsibility. What he did was reckless."
Doctor Murray has surrendered to face allegations of administering a lethal dose of the hospital anaesthetic propofol to Michael Jackson but denies any foul play
RIP Michael Jackson
Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 29, 1958. He was the seventh child of nine children to Joseph and Katherine Jackson and was born into a typical working class family. The city of Gary is 25 miles from downtown Chicago and is famous for its massive steel industry. It took its name from the chairman of U.S. Steel, Elbert H Gary, and is nicknamed 'City of Century' – we're hoping for ironic reasons. (Image: WENN.com)
